Urbanization, Sustainability and Society invites submissions for its Special Issue on Urban Heat Island Effects in Dense Built Environments: Coupling Simulation and Field Measurements to Enhance Climate Resilience.
About the Special Issue
Urban Heat Island (UHI) effects are becoming increasingly severe in densely built environments due to high building density, limited vegetation, anthropogenic heat, and changing climate conditions. This Special Issue aims to advance scientific understanding of UHI dynamics by integrating research from urban climatology, building physics, public health, urban planning, and environmental modelling to support climate-resilient cities.
The issue welcomes research that combines field measurements, simulation models, policy analysis, and innovative mitigation strategies to address urban overheating. Contributions focusing on dense urban environments, nature-based solutions, technological interventions, climate-responsive design, and governance frameworks are particularly encouraged to support sustainable urban development and enhance public health and resilience.
