About the Special Issue
The Social Science Journal invites submissions for its Special Issue titled "American Government/Politics: Decade in Review."
Marking a decade since Donald Trump’s first election to the U.S. presidency, this Special Issue examines the significant political developments that have reshaped American government and politics over the past ten years. It seeks scholarly contributions that critically assess major institutional, political, and societal transformations while exploring their implications for the future of American democracy and governance.
The issue welcomes interdisciplinary and methodologically diverse research that advances understanding of contemporary U.S. politics through empirical, theoretical, and comparative perspectives.
Scope and Topics of Interest
Submissions may address, but are not limited to:
Democratic erosion and democratic resilience
Partisan polarization and political hostility
Political participation and representation of racial, ethnic, LGBTQ+, and other marginalized communities
Historic political milestones and their long-term implications
Institutional continuity and institutional change
Redistricting and electoral reforms
Federal, state, and local political developments
Political parties and evolving party systems
Media, political communication, and public opinion
Contemporary trends shaping American governance

Full manuscript submission deadline: 01 November 2026
Abstracts should be submitted directly to the Special Issue Editors.
Manuscripts should follow The Social Science Journal author guidelines and be submitted through the journal's submission system.
Contributions from diverse disciplinary backgrounds and methodological approaches are encouraged.
