Overlooked No More: Managing Talent of Older Workers
Journal: The International Journal of Human Resource Management
Submission window: 17 June 2026 – 15 July 2026
Deadline: 15 July 2026
This special issue focuses on how organizations can attract, develop, retain, and deploy talented older workers in age-diverse workforces. It frames older employees as valuable contributors with advanced knowledge, strategic insight, leadership potential, and mentoring capabilities, while also addressing the persistence of age bias and exclusion in talent management.
The call emphasizes that aging is a major global trend and that labor shortages make the effective management of older workers increasingly important. It also notes that talent management scholarship has largely centered on younger workers, leaving a gap that this special issue aims to address through cross-cultural, multinational, and policy-relevant research.
