About the Special Issue
The History of the Family invites submissions for its Special Issue on "Household Economy in the Nordics (16th to 20th Centuries)."
This Special Issue explores the historical roots of household finance and economic practices across the Nordic countries—Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Iceland—from the sixteenth to the twentieth centuries. It seeks to examine how households managed savings, credit, payments, inheritance, and welfare arrangements long before the emergence of the modern Nordic welfare model.
The issue welcomes original historical research that investigates household financial behaviour, institutional arrangements, and family economies, providing new insights into the evolution of the Nordic socio-economic system through household-level perspectives.
