Overview

This special issue—published by Emerald Publishing—focuses on methodological innovation within quality management (QM) research. It explores how advanced modeling techniques—such as Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), Necessary Condition Analysis (NCA), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) integration—can provide more robust, predictive, and explanatory power when analyzing quality outcomes and organizational performance.

Key Research Themes

• Methodological Advances: Applications of CB-SEM and PLS-SEM, combined with multi-method designs and hybrid models that integrate machine learning (ML) to uncover complex data patterns.

• Quality Metrics & Scales: Development and validation of measurement scales for emerging phenomena, including AI service quality, platform quality, and the integration of sustainability with traditional quality constructs.

• Complex Modeling: Utilizing non-linear effects, mediation/moderation analysis, multi-group comparisons, and latent class techniques to explore heterogeneity in quality perceptions across stakeholders and geographies.

• Actionable Insights: Employing NCA and combined Importance–Performance Map Analysis (cIPMA) to derive evidence-based, practical recommendations for decision-makers in QM.

• Predictive Analytics: Modeling the outcomes of Industry 4.0/5.0 initiatives, Lean Six Sigma, and digital transformation projects using advanced predictive and prescriptive modeling frameworks.
