  • Strong interest in qualitative and mixed-methods social science contributions.

  • Work should engage with place-based transitions, legality/illegality, political ecology, and environmental justice.

Overview

This special issue examines how transition frameworks apply to mining and natural resource governance in Latin America, and where they may need to be revised or resisted. It emphasizes shifting extraction frontiers, post-mining futures, mineral criticality, and the social and ecological legacies of extractivism. The issue seeks work that is grounded in the region’s realities and that connects governance, territorial change, and community conflict.
