Introduction
Structural engineering, as the cornerstone of modern infrastructure safety, has long relied on rigorous analysis, precise mechanical calculations, and conservative design principles. Faced with increasingly complex loading environments and ever-rising performance standards, traditional engineering approaches are encountering unprecedented challenges — from initial force flow analysis to structural system reliability assessment, and on to precise material strength design.
This Special Issue delves into the latest advancements in structural analysis and health monitoring, leveraging scientific approaches to enhance the precision and safety of engineering design. Structural reliability, force analysis, and rational load combinations form the core of ensuring engineering safety. By thoroughly investigating structural responses under various extreme loads and integrating advanced material strength design theories, engineers can construct systems that are both economical and secure.
Simultaneously, Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) technology is revolutionizing how we maintain infrastructure. Real-time monitoring systems enable a shift from reactive responses to proactive preventive maintenance — significantly reducing lifecycle costs while extending the service life of critical infrastructure.
When integrated with refined structural analysis and design, data-driven monitoring approaches offer novel perspectives for evaluating the performance of existing structures. This Special Issue cordially invites researchers and engineers to share their latest research findings and technological innovations, with the goal of advancing safer, smarter, and more resilient future infrastructure.
