Exploring New Directions in the Revival of Confucian Education: Challenges and Opportunities in a Transforming China

Journal: Social Transformations in Chinese Societies
Publisher: Emerald Publishing
Submission Opens: 1 March 2026
Manuscript Submission Deadline: 1 September 2026

Introduction
The revival of Confucian education in contemporary China has gained significant momentum over the past three decades, profoundly influencing societal values and educational practices. Recent developments, including the "double reduction" policy, COVID-19 pandemic, legal constraints, and internal debates within grassroots Confucian education, have brought both new obstacles and opportunities. This special issue critically explores these challenges and opportunities, providing new insights into the revival's complexities and future trajectory in a transforming China.
