This special issue examines how research and innovation evaluation methods are evolving worldwide and how they shape definitions of excellence. It welcomes conceptual and empirical work on alternative metrics, cross-country comparison, ethical issues, language bias, and the effects of assessment systems on careers and mobility. The issue also highlights social justice, equity, and the need for more inclusive evaluation frameworks in the AI era.

Submission Details
Submit original, unpublished work through the RESGLO online system.
Select “VSI:Rethinking Research Evaluation” as the article type.
Manuscripts must be in English and within RESGLO scope.
Peer review will be conducted by at least two independent reviewers.
