Key Requirements:
Focus on complex engineering systems under multi-hazard conditions.
Strong emphasis on resilience assessment, reliability modeling, AI-based prediction, and optimization.
Natech events, cascading failures, and climate-related impacts are especially welcome.
Overview
This special issue looks at how complex engineering systems respond to simultaneous, cascading, or compounded hazards from natural disasters and anthropogenic threats. It highlights the need for advanced methods that can capture cross-scale failure propagation, dynamic performance changes, and resilience enhancement under multi-hazard stress. The issue welcomes work that combines reliability engineering, dynamic risk theory, AI, multi-scale modeling, and optimization.
Key Research Themes
Disaster chain uncertainty, environmental parameters, and human factors.
Deep learning and reinforcement learning for failure and reliability prediction.
Dynamic performance assessment under evolving hazards.
Multi-fidelity simulation and network modeling of interdependent systems.
Reliability and resilience quantification under cascading disruptive events.
AI-augmented resilience optimization.
Climate-change effects and adaptation strategies for complex systems.
