About the Special Issue

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is rapidly transforming workplaces, organizational processes, HR practices, and career development. As human employees increasingly collaborate with AI systems, traditional concepts of productivity are being redefined, raising important questions about how work outputs should be measured and how human and AI contributions can be distinguished.

This Special Issue seeks high-quality research that advances the understanding of productivity in AI-enabled workplaces. It welcomes conceptual, empirical, and methodological studies examining how GenAI reshapes work, performance, career development, and organizational effectiveness while offering new approaches to measuring productivity in human-AI collaboration.

Topics of Interest

Submissions may include, but are not limited to:

• Conceptualizing productivity in AI-enabled work and careers

• Distinguishing AI exposure, AI use, and AI augmentation

• Measuring human versus AI contributions to performance and outputs

• Changes in performance distribution among high and low performers

• GenAI's impact on skills development, employability, and career trajectories

• HR practices, job design, and organizational factors influencing AI-related productivity

• Methodological approaches to studying AI and work, including:

  • Multi-source data
