Politikon invites submissions for its Special Issue titled "War-Making without State-Building in the Horn of Africa?"
About the Special Issue
The Horn of Africa—comprising Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, and Sudan—has experienced persistent conflict, insecurity, and political instability for decades. Civil wars, interstate conflicts, terrorism, and regional rivalries have shaped the region's political landscape, with violence driven by complex historical, socio-economic, and geopolitical factors. These challenges have been further intensified by regional and international interventions pursuing diverse political, economic, and strategic interests.
This Special Issue seeks original and insightful scholarly contributions that examine the historical and contemporary politics of the Horn of Africa. It welcomes research that advances understanding of conflict, statehood, governance, security, and regional dynamics while offering fresh perspectives on one of the world's most strategically significant regions.
