Overview
This special issue explores the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Human Resource Management (HRM), and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). It invites multidisciplinary research on how AI reshapes employment for underrepresented groups—including women, migrants, refugees, older workers, people with disabilities, and Indigenous employees—and how HRM can foster more ethical, inclusive, and human-centered AI-enabled workplaces.
Key Research Themes
AI in Talent Acquisition: Analyzing how AI-driven recruitment and selection systems can mitigate or exacerbate biases against marginalized candidates, and identifying mechanisms for equitable hiring outcomes.
Accessibility & Inclusion: Investigating how AI technologies can be designed to enhance workplace accessibility and expand employment opportunities for employees with disabilities and other underrepresented groups.
Bias Mitigation & Human–AI Collaboration: Exploring the roles of human oversight, inclusive design, and minority input in reducing algorithmic bias and ensuring AI systems perform ethically within HR contexts.
Talent Development & Reskilling: Examining how HRM can leverage AI for inclusive reskilling and "training" both human and AI systems toward ethical performance.
Responsible Governance: Addressing the ethical, legal, and governance frameworks necessary to align AI-HRM systems with human rights and DEI principles.

Why This Issue Matters
This special issue moves beyond purely technical or productivity-focused debates to address the systemic impact of AI on workplace equality. By integrating HRM scholarship with organizational behavior and information systems, it aims to position organizational leaders to respond effectively to AI-driven change while ensuring that technological adoption supports, rather than undermines, human-centered and equitable workplaces.
