Policing: An International Journal invites submissions for its Special Issue on Advancing Knowledge on the Mission, Operations, and Impact of Crime Gun Intelligence Centers (CGICs) on Gun Crime and Community Safety.
About the Special Issue
Crime Gun Intelligence Centers (CGICs) have become an important innovation in firearm-related criminal investigations, helping law enforcement agencies improve investigative efficiency through advanced forensic and analytical technologies. By generating actionable crime gun intelligence, CGICs aim to strengthen investigations, increase accountability for violent offenders, improve case clearance rates, and reduce firearm-related violence.
This Special Issue seeks rigorous research that advances understanding of how CGICs operate, the conditions under which they are most effective, and their impact on gun crime and community safety. Contributions examining implementation, operational practices, investigator experiences, and evidence-based evaluations are encouraged to support policing policy and practice.
