Logistics and Supply Chain Management have traditionally been dominated by normative and performance-driven approaches focused on efficiency, optimization, resilience, and digital transformation. However, this Special Issue seeks to broaden the field by exploring logistics from unconventional, critical, and interdisciplinary perspectives.
Titled โHรฉtรฉrodoxie logistique : explorer des chemins de traverseโ (Heterodox Logistics: Exploring Alternative Pathways), the Special Issue encourages scholars to examine logistics as a social, political, historical, and cultural phenomenon. It invites research on often-overlooked practices, actors, and dynamics that shape logistical systems beyond mainstream frameworks.
The issue particularly welcomes studies investigating informal economies, parallel networks, illicit and clandestine flows, historical supply systems, controversial infrastructures, and marginal social practices. Such contexts provide valuable insights into alternative forms of coordination, material flows, and power structures that underpin logistics and supply chains.
Researchers are encouraged to challenge conventional assumptions and contribute critical, reflexive, and exploratory perspectives that expand the theoretical and methodological boundaries of logistics and supply chain research.
