Strategic Governance and Ecosystem Management in AI-enabled Digital Marketplaces
Journal: Journal of Strategy and Management
Publisher: Emerald Publishing
Manuscript Submission Deadline: 10 July 2027
Publication Date: 31 January 2028
This Special Issue invites theoretical, conceptual, and empirical research examining strategic governance and ecosystem management within AI-enabled digital marketplaces.
About the Special Issue
Digital marketplaces are evolving beyond transactional platforms into complex strategic ecosystems where governance structures, algorithms, data, AI technologies, pricing mechanisms, recommendation systems, and platform rules increasingly influence competition and value creation.
The Special Issue examines how firms, particularly SMEs, navigate platform dependence, strategic autonomy, distribution choices, organizational transformation, and AI-enabled governance. It also explores how technologies such as Generative AI, algorithmic ranking, automated monitoring, dynamic pricing, fraud detection, and AI-supported customer management are transforming marketplace governance.
The issue welcomes theoretical and conceptual papers, qualitative studies, quantitative research, mixed-method studies, comparative cross-country research, platform-data analysis, formal modelling, agent-based modelling, longitudinal ecosystem mapping, and multi-level research designs.
