This Special Issue explores immigrant entrepreneurship in sparse, remote, and institutionally thin ecosystems, particularly across Arctic and Arctic-like regions. These regions are experiencing significant demographic, economic, environmental, and institutional transformations, creating both challenges and opportunities for entrepreneurial activity.

Immigrant entrepreneurs are increasingly contributing to local employment, innovation, community resilience, and regional revitalisation through ventures in sectors such as tourism, logistics, digital services, food systems, renewable energy, and the circular economy. However, their role remains underexplored in mainstream entrepreneurship research, which has largely focused on metropolitan and resource-rich ecosystems.

By integrating perspectives from entrepreneurship, migration studies, regional development, and sustainable transitions, the Special Issue seeks to generate new theoretical and empirical insights into entrepreneurial ecosystems in peripheral and extreme contexts.
