Follow the Money but Then What? Rethinking Asset Recovery
Journal: Journal of Money Laundering Control
Publisher: Emerald Publishing
Manuscript Submission Deadline: 01 February 2027
The Journal of Money Laundering Control invites high-quality submissions for its Special Issue on Follow the Money but Then What? Rethinking Asset Recovery.
About the Special Issue
Asset recovery has become a central pillar of anti-money laundering, anti-corruption, and financial crime enforcement. However, despite expanding legal frameworks and stronger confiscation powers, recovery rates remain low, while concerns continue to emerge regarding procedural safeguards, judicial oversight, and the broader social and economic impacts of confiscation.
This Special Issue seeks to examine asset recovery as an evolving legal discipline in its own right. It welcomes interdisciplinary and comparative scholarship that explores the conceptual foundations, effectiveness, legitimacy, and future development of asset recovery frameworks across domestic, regional, and international legal systems.
