Overview

This special issue—published by Elsevier—examines the transition from Industry 4.0 to Industry 5.0, focusing on how Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) ecosystems can drive sustainable industrial transformation. It explores the integration of disruptive technologies—such as Generative AI, Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), and Quantum Computing—while addressing the critical management, governance, and human-centric challenges required to ensure these systems are economically, environmentally, and socially responsible.
