Journal of Children's Services invites submissions for its Special Issue on Child Protection and Housing Insecurity in the Southern European Welfare States.

About the Special Issue

Housing insecurity has become a critical social issue affecting children across Europe, particularly those deprived of parental care or living in vulnerable family environments. In Southern European welfare systems, where families traditionally play a central role in providing care and housing, rising poverty, housing shortages, migration, and welfare pressures have exposed significant gaps in child protection and social support.

This Special Issue seeks interdisciplinary research that examines the intersection of housing insecurity, child protection, and welfare systems in Southern Europe. It welcomes theoretical and empirical contributions that explore housing precarity, institutional care, foster care, migration, social rights, and welfare policies to better understand children's pathways of inclusion, protection, and wellbeing.

• Abstracts should be emailed to the Guest Editor.
