Overview
This special issue—published by Elsevier—addresses the critical need to bridge the gap between entrepreneurship theory and real-world application. It seeks to move beyond understanding the drivers of success toward evaluating how, when, and why entrepreneurial interventions—such as training, mentorship, funding, and policy initiatives—can be effectively designed, implemented, and scaled to achieve meaningful impact.
Key Research Themes
Effectiveness & Theory of Change: Analyzing the pathways and mechanisms through which interventions (psychological, behavioral, institutional) improve entrepreneurial performance and long-term success.
Unintended Consequences: Utilizing field experiments to capture both intended benefits and potential adverse incentives of support programs, ensuring a nuanced understanding of their impact.
AI-Augmented Interventions: Investigating how AI-driven tools (e.g., algorithmic mentorship, automated funding) compare to traditional support mechanisms and how they can improve real-time outcome measurement.
Metrics & Success Indicators: Developing reliable, multi-level metrics (individual, firm, community) that capture both short-term performance and long-term societal impacts.
Meta-Analytic Research: Systematically synthesizing findings across diverse interventions to identify patterns, boundary conditions, and methodological gaps in the literature.

Why This Issue Matters
Despite decades of robust theoretical progress in entrepreneurship, the translation of these insights into effective, real-world interventions remains uneven. This special issue—published by Elsevier—seeks to promote high-quality, evidence-based intervention research, helping researchers develop scalable solutions for practitioners and policymakers while refining the theoretical underpinnings of entrepreneurial success.
