About the Special Issue
The Journal of Asian Public Policy invites submissions for its Special Issue titled "Social Change, Wellbeing, and Social Policy in East Asia: Insights and Innovations."
East Asia is undergoing rapid demographic and social transformation driven by population ageing, ultra-low fertility, urbanisation, digitalisation, migration, and widening socioeconomic inequalities. These changes are placing unprecedented pressure on welfare systems, labour markets, healthcare services, family structures, and long-term care arrangements across the region.
This Special Issue seeks high-quality, policy-relevant research examining how governments, institutions, and communities are responding to these emerging challenges while promoting wellbeing across the life course. It welcomes interdisciplinary scholarship that explores innovative policy solutions, governance reforms, technological advancements, and evidence-based approaches to building more resilient and inclusive welfare systems.
Researchers from public policy, sociology, social work, gerontology, public health, political science, AI policy, and related disciplines are encouraged to contribute theoretical, empirical, comparative, and mixed-methods studies that advance understanding of social policy innovations across East Asia.
