Overview
This special issue focuses on carbon accounting, climate disclosure, and sustainability reporting as climate change and new global standards such as IFRS/ISSB S2 push carbon-related information to the center of corporate reporting. It addresses the growing need for decision-useful, reliable, and comparable disclosure while noting the continuing challenges in measurement, assurance, and accountability.
Scope
The issue encourages rigorous academic inquiry at the intersection of carbon accounting, climate disclosure, and sustainability. It highlights theoretical, empirical, and policy dimensions of carbon accounting and sustainability reporting, with attention to how accounting can shape climate accountability and broader societal impact. The call particularly welcomes work on carbon accounting frameworks, climate and carbon disclosure, GHG assurance and verification, emissions trading, ESG reporting, and the use of AI, FinTech, and blockchain in carbon management. It also includes green finance, corporate finance and climate risk, education and training, and nature and biodiversity accounting.
