The Agentic Supply Chain: Entering a new era in AI in Supply Chain Management
Journal: International Journal of Production Research
Publisher: Taylor & Francis
Submission Deadline: 30 June 2026

Overview
This special issue examines how agentic AI and large language model agents are transforming supply chain management. It focuses on autonomous decision systems that can reason, plan, negotiate, optimize, and interact with humans or other agents in complex supply chain environments. The issue aims to connect operations, supply chain management, AI, complexity science, and industrial engineering.

Detailed Scope
The call welcomes work on risk and disruption management, logistics optimization, transportation routes, inventory management, quality control, demand forecasting, warehouse planning, supplier relationships, digital twins, sustainability, circular supply chains, visibility, and supply chain financing. It also includes interorganizational multi-agent negotiation, hybrid systems combining agentic AI with blockchain and IoT, governance, trustworthiness, human-in-the-loop systems, and technical issues such as hallucination, performance evaluation, ablation analysis, and long-horizon reasoning. Both conceptual and applied research are encouraged, especially studies with practical industry or policy implications.
