The International Journal of Digital Earth invites submissions for its Article Collection titled "Advancing GeoAI: From Machine Learning to Foundation Models for Explainable and Generative Geospatial Intelligence."
About the Article Collection
Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI) is transforming Digital Earth research by integrating spatial data science, remote sensing, machine learning, and foundation models to better understand dynamic Earth systems. Recent advances in generative AI, multimodal foundation models, and natural language interfaces are enabling more intelligent, scalable, and interactive geospatial analysis while supporting applications in environmental monitoring, urban planning, disaster resilience, and sustainability.
This Article Collection seeks innovative research that advances GeoAI methodologies—from traditional machine learning to explainable AI, foundation models, and generative geospatial intelligence. It also encourages studies addressing transparency, ethics, human-centered AI, and trustworthy decision-making in geospatial applications.
