ABOUT THIS SPECIAL ISSUE
This special issue is linked to IBSC 2025 โ a conference dedicated to promoting the significance and advancement of building surveying works in the construction industry. The conference is planned for various professionals from diverse backgrounds in the Built Environment who are frequently involved in building surveying scope of works.
With the advance of technologies and the wave of the Industry Revolution, IBSC offers an opportunity for awareness and enhancement of knowledge and for keeping up with the latest know-how in the field. The conference is organised by the Department of Building Surveying, Faculty of Built Environment, University of Malaya (UM), and co-organised with the Public Works Department Malaysia, Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) (Sarawak Branch), Liverpool John Moores University, and University of Technology Sydney.
This special issue invites extended and original research contributions that advance knowledge in building surveying, particularly in the context of tropical climates.
SCOPE & THEME AREAS
We invite submissions addressing (but not limited to) the following themes:
๐น Building Surveying Drone and remote sensing in surveying, development, by-laws, building control, building pathology, defects, condition assessment, inspection, building performance, legal aspects, and post-occupancy evaluation (POE).
๐น Architecture and Planning Studies Design, planning, architectural studies, heritage conservation, legal frameworks, housing, and geospatial studies.
๐น Management and Governance Building maintenance, asset management, facilities management, risk management, project management, property management, contracts, legal issues, and professional practice.
๐น Building and Construction Design, structural engineering, construction technology, risk, and Building Information Modelling (BIM).
๐น Computer and Environmental Science Machine learning, energy simulation, indoor air quality, indoor environmental quality, BIM, data mining, artificial intelligence (AI), big data, Internet of Things (IoT), and climate change.
๐น Engineering and Material Science Engineering studies and building engineering technology.
