About the Article Collection
The International Journal of Adolescence and Youth invites submissions for its Open Access Article Collection titled "Early Childhood Aggression: Mechanisms, Contexts, Inequalities, and Pathways to Healthy Development."
This collection seeks high-quality empirical and review research exploring the developmental origins of aggressive behaviour during early childhood. It highlights the importance of understanding aggression through biological, psychological, social, cultural, and systemic perspectives while promoting strengths-based and developmentally appropriate approaches.
Researchers are encouraged to investigate how emotional regulation, empathy, language development, family environments, educational settings, digital experiences, and broader social inequalities shape aggressive behaviours in young children. The collection also emphasizes the importance of avoiding the overpathologisation of normal developmental behaviours and encourages culturally grounded, equitable perspectives on childhood development.
