Journal: Innovation and Green Development
Publisher: Elsevier
Submission deadline: 30 June 2026

Overview

This special issue examines the evolving geopolitical and geo-economic landscape between the European Union and East Asian economies. As China’s global influence grows—balancing roles as a systemic rival, partner, and competitor—it is crucial to explore how the EU and East Asia can collaborate on sustainability. The issue aims to analyze how these regions can leverage shared experiences to address industrial competition, demographic shifts, and environmental imperatives, structured across three major domains: (1) geopolitical and security issues, (2) economics and trade, and (3) cultural, social, legal, and normative issues.

Key Research Themes

The editors invite submissions focusing on sustainable exchanges between the EU and East Asia, including, but not limited to:

  • Sustainable Instruments & Markets: Blue finance products, fintech innovations, and ESG differences.

  • Industrial Policy & Resilience: Comparative industrial policies, risk management in blue finance, and climate risk mitigation strategies.

  • Policy & Governance: Impact assessments of EU–East Asia relations, regulatory frameworks, and legal challenges.

  • Social Sustainability: Sustainable development of natural resources, population aging, social security systems, and strategies for achieving "common prosperity."
