Entrepreneurship Education Evolution through Experiential Learning: Global & Precarious Perspectives

JOURNAL NAME: Higher Education, Skills and Work-based Learning

PUBLISHER: Emerald Publishing

SUBMISSION OPENS: 31 March 2026

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 31 July 2026

ABOUT THIS SPECIAL ISSUE

This special issue aims to explore how entrepreneurship education can evolve through experiential, network-based, and contextually adaptive pedagogies. It seeks to bridge the persistent divide between entrepreneurial learning theory — grounded in experience, reflection, and social interaction — and the practice of entrepreneurship education, which often remains bound to linear, business-plan models.

By exploring global and precarious contexts such as automation, digital gig work, and economic uncertainty, the issue will curate cross-disciplinary research that redefines entrepreneurship education as a socially embedded, experiential process. The special issue will bring together scholars, educators, and policymakers to propose frameworks that mimic how entrepreneurs actually learn — through communities of practice, networks, and experiential ecosystems — and seeks to demonstrate how these approaches can be embedded in higher education curricula worldwide.

SCOPE & THEME AREAS

We invite submissions addressing (but not limited to) the following themes:

  1. Experiential and networked learning models — Embedding social learning, mentoring, and co-working experiences into entrepreneurial curricula to foster authentic, practice-based entrepreneurship education.

  2. AI and digital transformation in entrepreneurship education — Integrating artificial intelligence, data analytics, and platform-based learning ecosystems in the teaching and assessment design for entrepreneurship programmes.

  3. Global and precarious contexts — Exploring entrepreneurship education amid automation, economic volatility, and evolving labour markets across diverse global settings.

  4. Cross-disciplinary perspectives — Understanding entrepreneurial intentions and learning across business, STEM, law, and creative disciplines to foster holistic and transferable entrepreneurial competencies.

  5. Sustainability and inclusion — Connecting entrepreneurship education to UN Sustainable Development Goals through ethical, inclusive, and socially responsible innovation frameworks.
