GovTech – How is public-private-civic collaboration transforming government?

Journal: Government Information Quarterly
Publisher: Elsevier
Submission Opens: 1 August 2026
Manuscript Submission Deadline: 1 October 2026

Introduction
Government Information Quarterly (GIQ) is pleased to announce a special issue on GovTech. This emerging area represents a paradigmatic shift in how governments approach digital transformation through collaboration among government, startups, government intrapreneurs, academia, social enterprises, and other non-governmental actors to introduce innovation into the public sector. GovTech entails integrating technical components with socio-organizational systems and building relationships among GovTech providers, users, and public agencies, defined by human-centricity, collaboration, public trust, and addressing challenges to accountability, vendor dependence, and digital autonomy.
