Digital visibilityโthe practice of making individuals, groups, and organizations visible through digital technologiesโhas become a defining characteristic of contemporary society. Across organizations, platforms, and communities, digital infrastructures, algorithmic systems, artificial intelligence, and data-driven technologies increasingly determine who becomes visible, valued, and heard, and conversely, who becomes invisible, marginalized, or excluded.
This Special Issue seeks to advance theoretical and empirical understanding of digital visibility and invisibility and their implications for organizing, managing, and governing human and non-human actors. It explores how digital technologies reshape communication, collaboration, identity, power, trust, decision-making, and organizational structures in increasingly datafied environments.
The issue welcomes interdisciplinary contributions that develop conceptual frameworks, empirical insights, and methodological innovations to understand, design, analyze, and leverage digital visibility in contemporary organizations and societies.

This Special Issue aims to develop a coherent and timely research agenda on digital visibility and invisibility. It examines how systems of visibility are designed, managed, and experienced and how they influence organizing, collaboration, decision-making, power relations, and governance. The issue welcomes contributions from Information Systems and related disciplines, including organization studies, sociology of technology, science and technology studies, strategy, accounting, control, and other fields concerned with digital and data-driven forms of organizing.
