Manuscript Submission Deadline: 30 October 2026

Digital Journalism invites submissions for its Special Issue titled "Operationalising the Audiovisual Turn in Digital Journalism."

About the Special Issue

The rapid growth of audiovisual news formats—including short-form vertical videos, podcasts, video podcasts, and platform-native storytelling—is reshaping digital journalism. As younger audiences increasingly consume news through platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts, news organizations are adapting their production practices, storytelling methods, and audience engagement strategies.

This Special Issue seeks cutting-edge theoretical and empirical research that examines the ongoing audiovisual turn in journalism.
