Call for Papers | Article Collection on Advanced Numerical Methods in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering

Journal: Cogent Engineering
Publisher: Taylor & Francis Group
Manuscript Submission Deadline: 20 September 2026

Cogent Engineering invites submissions for its Article Collection titled "Advanced Numerical Methods in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering."

About the Article Collection

As ship designs become increasingly sophisticated and global regulations demand greater efficiency and sustainability, advanced numerical modelling has become essential in modern naval architecture and marine engineering. High-fidelity computational techniques such as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and Digital Twin technologies are transforming ship design, structural analysis, performance optimization, and predictive maintenance.

This Article Collection seeks original research demonstrating practical applications of advanced numerical methods, with particular emphasis on experimentally validated or benchmarked engineering solutions that bridge the gap between theoretical research and industrial practice.

Scope and Topics of Interest

Submissions may address, but are not limited to:

  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for ship hydrodynamics

  • Resistance prediction and propulsion optimization

  • Ship stability and manoeuvring analysis

  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural integrity

  • Fatigue life prediction and vibration analysis

  • Fluid–Structure Interaction (FSI)

  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for numerical simulation

  • Digital Twins for ships and marine engines

  • AIS-based data management and performance monitoring

  • Data-driven optimization and predictive maintenance

  • Offshore wind platforms and renewable marine energy systems

  • Wave energy systems

  • High-fidelity numerical modelling and engineering validation

Submission Guidelines

  • Manuscript Submission Deadline: 20 September 2026

  • Original research articles are welcome.

  • All submissions will undergo a full peer-review process.

  • Authors should prepare manuscripts according to the journal's author guidelines and select the appropriate Article Collection during submission.

  • This Article Collection will be published as Open Access.
