About the Special Issue
Culture and Organization invites submissions for its Special Issue titled "Problematising Management and Organization Studies through Genealogies of Power."
This Special Issue explores how genealogical approaches to power, inspired by the work of Michel Foucault and other critical scholars, can provide new perspectives for understanding contemporary management and organizational practices. In an era marked by rising authoritarianism, widening inequalities, surveillance capitalism, environmental crises, and democratic challenges, genealogy offers a powerful methodology for critically examining the historical development of organizational power structures and practices.
The issue encourages interdisciplinary and critical scholarship that connects management phenomena with broader political, social, economic, environmental, and historical contexts. Researchers are invited to investigate how genealogical methods can uncover hidden power relations, challenge dominant organizational narratives, and contribute to more democratic, inclusive, and sustainable alternatives.
