Overview
This special issue examines how the green transition unfolds unevenly across places, affecting economies, jobs, land use, mobility, and everyday costs in different ways. It focuses on two linked dynamics: uneven readiness, where places differ in exposure and capacity to adjust, and uneven acceptance, where transition burdens can trigger legitimacy concerns, mistrust, and backlash. The issue is especially interested in how these territorial differences shape the speed, direction, and political feasibility of the green transition.
