Overview
This special issue examines how international economies are adapting to a changing global environment marked by risk, fragmentation, and uncertainty. It brings together empirical, theoretical, and policy-oriented research from the 2026 French/Japanese Kyoto Conference, “International Economies: Challenges Ahead.” The issue is especially relevant to researchers working in international macroeconomics, financial economics, trade and development, political economy, and public policy.
Detailed Scope
The call focuses on geopolitical tensions and their effects on trade and investment, financial volatility and cross-border spillovers, technological disruption and structural adjustment, deglobalisation and fragmentation of global value chains, exchange rate behavior and currency instability, monetary and fiscal policy transmission across borders, sovereign debt vulnerabilities and safe assets, and economic resilience under uncertainty. The special issue aims to connect macroeconomic research with practical policy adaptation in a more fragmented world.
Submission Information
Papers presented at the 2026 French/Japanese Kyoto Conference are eligible for submission. Authors should submit full research articles through ScholarOne Manuscripts and select “Macroeconomics in an Era of Risk and Fragmentation” from the special issue dropdown. The expected publication timing is late 2026.
