The Australian Journal of Psychology invites submissions for its Article Collection titled From Lab to Clinic to Community: OCD Research Across the Implementation Spectrum. The collection aims to bridge the gap between theoretically driven experimental research on Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and its translation into clinical practice and community-based public health interventions.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a disabling mental health condition affecting approximately 1โ€“2% of the global population. Characterised by intrusive thoughts and repetitive behaviours, OCD often emerges during adolescence and can result in substantial personal, familial, and societal burdens if left untreated. While evidence-based interventions, particularly cognitive-behavioural therapies, have significantly improved outcomes, barriers to diagnosis, treatment access, and implementation remain widespread globally.

This Article Collection seeks to promote interdisciplinary dialogue among researchers, clinicians, and public health practitioners by showcasing empirical studies that span the entire research continuumโ€”from laboratory discoveries and translational science to clinical implementation and population-level mental health initiatives.

Submissions may address, but are not limited to, the following themes:

โ€ข Psychological mechanisms underlying OCD across the developmental spectrum
โ€ข OCD literacy and awareness initiatives
โ€ข Moderators and predictors of OCD symptoms and treatment outcomes
โ€ข Lived experiences of individuals with OCD
โ€ข Laboratory findings with implications for OCD treatment and intervention design
โ€ข Pilot studies of innovative therapeutic approaches for OCD
โ€ข Implementation science research in healthcare settings
โ€ข Population-based epidemiological studies and screening programmes
โ€ข Digital health innovations and scalable interventions for OCD management
โ€ข Healthcare policy and service delivery models for OCD care
โ€ข Community-based prevention and early intervention strategies
โ€ข Cross-cultural adaptation and implementation of evidence-based treatments

Despite major advances in understanding and treating OCD, many individuals continue to experience delayed diagnosis, limited access to effective care, and inadequate treatment in community settings. By promoting research that explicitly connects laboratory findings with real-world implementation and public health practice, this collection aims to accelerate the translation of OCD science into meaningful improvements in patient outcomes and population mental health.

โ€ข The collection welcomes empirical studies spanning scientific discovery, clinical applications, and population health impact.
โ€ข Contributions from experimental, translational, clinical, and community-based research perspectives are encouraged.
โ€ข All accepted articles will be published Open Access to ensure broad accessibility for researchers, clinicians, and public health stakeholders worldwide.
