Overview

This special issue explores how organizations build adaptive, reflexive, and transformative capabilities to navigate contemporary challenges such as digitalization, climate change, and democratic shifts. It invites research that examines learning dynamics in "centre-periphery" relations, specifically looking at how bottom-up and top-down processes reshape organizational hierarchies, authority, and knowledge distribution in an AI-informed society.

Key Research Themes

• Centre-Periphery Dynamics: How digital, social, and cultural learning processes challenge established boundaries, power structures, and perceptions of "centres" and "peripheries."

• AI & Digital Transformation: The impact of AI and digital environments on work-learning environments, knowledge creation, sharing, and collaborative communication.

• Work-Integrated Learning (WIL): Exploring boundary-spanning approaches that connect formal education with work practices and societal challenges to foster reciprocal and sustainable relationships.

• Socio-Organizational Change: Analyses of how external stressors (e.g., migration, climate change, democratic decline) and internal learning dynamics (e.g., double-loop learning, co-creation) influence organizational development.
