Collection: Geospatial Perspectives for Sustainable Communities and Resilient Futures
(Discover Global Society – Springer Nature)
Submission Deadline: 30 April 2026
About the Collection
This special collection explores the transformative role of geospatial technologies in advancing sustainability, equity, and resilience across societies. With growing environmental vulnerabilities, socio-economic disparities, and urban–rural divides—particularly in the Global South—innovations such as remote sensing, GIS, and allied geospatial methods have become indispensable.
By showcasing practical applications ranging from urban growth monitoring and agricultural sustainability to climate change adaptation and disaster preparedness, the collection highlights how geospatial tools can:
- Inform inclusive policymaking
- Foster just and resilient communities
- Shape sustainable, equitable futures
The aim is to encourage interdisciplinary contributions that interrogate the intersections of technology, society, and environment—promoting geospatial practices that move beyond documenting change to actively driving transformation.
