Monash-AUASB Research Forum 2027: Call for Papers

Monash Business School, Monash University, in collaboration with the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (AUASB) and Accounting & Finance Journal, invites expressions of interest for the Monash-AUASB Research Forum 2027. About the Research Forum

The forum aims to bring together research that can inform the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board’s work programme, particularly in relation to current assurance practices, emerging issues and matters relevant to standard-setting responsibilities.

Researchers undertaking empirical, theoretical or conceptual research related to financial statement auditing, sustainability assurance and emerging technologies are encouraged to submit an expression of interest. (Monash University)


Research Themes

Submissions may address topics related to:

  • Sustainability assurance

  • Mandatory sustainability assurance

  • Technology, including Artificial Intelligence

  • Audit quality

  • Financial report and other assurance matters

  • Half-year financial reports

  • Auditor’s reports

  • Other emerging assurance issues (Monash University)


Submission Requirements

Researchers whose work aligns with the objectives of the forum should submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).

The submission should include:

  • An extended abstract

  • Maximum length: 1 page

  • A clear explanation of the research and its implications for the AUASB

Opportunities for Accepted Papers

Authors of accepted expressions of interest will be invited to participate in the Research Forum and receive feedback from AUASB staff and forum attendees.

Following the workshop:

  • Authors will be expected to contribute a 4-page research synopsis to an AUASB Research Report.

  • Authors will also be invited to submit their full papers to a special submission track in Accounting & Finance.

  • The deadline for the special-track full paper submission is 15 July 2027.

  • Papers submitted to the journal will undergo its normal peer-review process. (Monash University)


Forum Programme

The programme is expected to begin with an expert panel, followed by presentations of seven research papers.
