Call for Papers – ICFIF 2026, VGSOM, IIT Kharagpur

VGSOM, IIT Kharagpur is organizing an international conference on infrastructure finance this November, and we're now inviting paper submissions.

The idea behind the conference is fairly simple: infrastructure in developing countries like India doesn't usually fail because of lack of demand, it fails because the money to build it isn't structured well. Roads, power plants, water systems, ports — all of it needs financing that actually works, and that's become a bigger conversation over the last two decades with PPPs, private capital, and government policy all playing a part. ICFIF 2026 is meant to bring people who study this and people who work in this into the same room for three days.

It's happening at VGSOM from 20th to 22nd November 2026, and papers can be submitted across five broad areas:

• Capital markets and international finance

• Project finance and public-private partnerships

• Transport and energy infrastructure

• Social infrastructure, microfinance and inclusion

• Policy and sustainable infrastructure

If your work touches any of these — even loosely — it's worth submitting.

Deadlines to keep in mind:
Paper submission – 15th September 2026
Acceptance notification – 20th September 2026
Registration closes – 30th September 2026

Papers should be in IEEE format, Times New Roman, 12pt, under 5,000 words, with a short abstract and title page. Send everything to icfif2026@vgsom.iitkgp.ac.in, and mention which track number your paper falls under.

There's also a best paper award — two per track — and the winners get their entire registration fee back, on top of a citation at the closing ceremony. Selected papers are being considered for an EconLit-indexed journal or edited volume as well, so this isn't just a certificate-and-move-on kind of event.

Registration fees are ₹3,000 for students, ₹6,000 for academics, and ₹10,000 for industry participants (international fees are $150/$300/$600 respectively). This covers meals and conference material for all three days. On-campus accommodation is also available if you need it.

The conference is open to anyone working in or around this space — researchers, faculty, students, people from banks and financial institutions, policy folks, consultants, basically anyone with a genuine interest in how infrastructure gets funded.
